2019 Jacksonville Florida City Council District 7

We are holding a debate for the Jacksonville Florida City Council District 7 race in 2019. We are currently reaching out to the candidates and inviting them to answer questions for the voters. The following questions have been submitted to the candidates:

  • What can be done to reduce the crime rate?
  • What can be done to create better jobs?
  • What can be done to improve the availability of quality food?
  • Other than the issues already covered, what do you consider to be the most important issue facing Jacksonville?

Sharise V. Riley (Democrat)

Sharise was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida where she graduated from James S. Rickards High School. Upon graduation, Sharise worked for the State of Florida’s Department of Disability and FAMU. In 1995, Sharise wanted to broaden herself and decided Jacksonville had a lot to offer and decided to make Jacksonville, FL her new home. Sharise worked for Duval County Schools as an Administrative Assistant. She married Harold Riley, a Sailor in the United States Navy in 1997. Soon thereafter, we were transferred to Naval Station, Pearl Harbor Hawaii. After retiring in 2002, the family returned to Jacksonville. Sharise pursued her passion from a young girl for real estate after experiencing disappointment with a home sell and a home purchase. She became a Licensed Real Estate Agent in 2007 and founded her own Real Estate Company in 2010, Concorde Realty of Northeast Florida. Sharise returned to school to attain her Associates Degree and will graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College in Political Science the summer of 2019.

She was an active volunteer with the Red Cross while living in Hawaii. Sharise severed previously as President of her daughters middle school Drama Club. Sharise currently partners with the Jacksonville Housing Authority to assist participants of the Self Sufficiency Program. These efforts have led to countless members of the program becoming homeowners and self-sufficient. She is a die-hard Jacksonville Jaguars fan and a member of the team’s Champions Club.

Sharise has been married for over 20 years and has one daughter who attends the University of North Florida. She is an advocate of no more stray pets and has a seven-year-old poodle by the name of Prince.
