After Norma and Gene married, the genealogy bug hit, and thus began a long journey together of devoting countless hours and love for their posterity. It was a passion for both. I remember as a young girl, standing next to our dining room table and watching my mother as she worked tirelessly on genealogy. As the years passed the work continued as my mother would relate how she had discovered something about a new ancestor, or how she had come in contact with a distant relative that was able to give her new information, or how they had planned a trip to visit a distant relative to obtain further information. Family meant everything to my parents, and they thrived on their adventures together.
Through the many years within the walls of their home, they tutored their children with repeated stories of great-grandparents, great uncles, pioneer journeys, and much more. For me, I could never get enough. As I copy these books onto this Beaman-Pyle Family History community, if there is anything I remember that has come down from the verbal storytelling they will be included and be titled as such to differentiate between the two.
When my brother’s and I married and had begun our own families, we were presented with two large volumes of books on their research up to that time for Christmas. I remember feeling like I held the most cherished possessions in the world and began to read them with excitement. My parents were both wonderful about spending time telling us many of the wonderful and fascinating stories in these two books. I would hang on every word as though it had been the very first time I had heard them, although they had been repeated over the years on countless occasions.
It is my desire that my posterity will have a sense of belonging to something important. To a group of people who love, care about them, and who are watching over them from the other side. You will learn the struggles, hardships, fears, accomplishments, joys, and innermost desires of those who have made it through this life journey before you. My parents loved their ancestors because they learned about them. I believe this helped them to love their posterity more; because they had this sense of being enveloped in this community of family.
Enjoy reading and learning! Again, if you have anything to add to this community, please contact me at beamanpyle@gmail.com I would love to hear from you!
